When bus service is affected by weather or unplanned events

Things to know:
- When roads and traffic are affected by ice, snow, or other emergencies, Metro buses might also be delayed or rerouted.
- Reroute information is not always available or complete due to rapidly changing conditions. It is very likely your bus has been affected, even though it may not yet be specifically listed in the table below.
- Check the table below for details of reroutes as they become available.
- If buses are rerouted due to ice and snow, they will avoid hills and unplowed roads. Wait for the bus at the top or bottom of hills, or at a bus stop on a cleared arterial street, transit center, or park-and-ride lot.
- Monitor traffic and weather reports for road conditions that could delay buses in the areas where you plan to travel. Also, visit the KCDOT Newscenter for additional information about transportation disruptions.
- Look for other tips and information below the status table.

Most Metro bus routes have pre-planned adverse weather routing published in online and paper timetables. To see the timetable for your route, enter the route number in the box above the status table. If your bus has a pre-planned adverse weather route, it will be linked at the top of its timetable page.
- If your route is listed in the table above, click the link in the left column for information about pre-planned reroutes.
- Where routes have no pre-planned routing, a regular timetable will be displayed.
- Check the right column in the table for variations or additional information.
Metro's online regional Trip Planner provides information about scheduled service. Adverse weather or emergency routing and other service disruptions are not available in the Trip Planner, nor do any of the public or private bus tracking programs reflect accurate information when Metro buses are rerouted.
Tips for riding the bus in bad weather:
When ice and snow are on the road, plan to board or exit buses at the top or bottom of hills, at bus stops on major, cleared arterial streets, or at transit centers, park-and-ride lots or other major transfer locations.
Expect schedule delays. Arrival and departure information at bus stops is usually not available during adverse conditions. Use the scheduled time as a guide, go to a major transfer location, and be prepared for delays.
For general information about Metro service during adverse conditions visit Metro's adverse weather page. For service disruptions not listed here visit Metro's service disruptions page or call 206-553-3000; TTY users call 7-1-1.
